The acute shortage of skilled workers on the labor market has also prompted the Berlin Chamber of Industry and Commerce to break new ground. In future, young Africans are to be trained in Berlin’s twin city Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, and then brought to the Spree. To this end, a training center will be set up in Windhoek under the technical direction of the Berlin Chamber of Industry and Commerce, which will also teach and test German language skills in parallel with vocational training in accordance with IHK standards. The project was initiated by IHK President Sebastian Stietzel during a visit to Namibia in the summer.
